Basf Italia has a new CEO. Andreas Riehemann has taken over from Erwin Rauhe, who has led the company over the past eleven years and will now assume the position of vice president of the board of Basf Italia. The new CEO has over 25 years of experience in the chemical industry and will lead the Italian subsidiary in the local market. In Italy, Basf has more than 1,400 employees and a network of 10 production sites.

Riehemann, 53, after graduating in industrial engineering, started his career at Basf within the coatings division, holding various positions of increasing responsibility in the commercial area. From 1998 to 2003 he was CEO of Basf Coatings Australia, which operates in Australia and New Zealand. After returning to Europe, he took up a series of positions that saw him, among other things, at the head of BTC and ChemTrade (2008-2012), the group’s subsidiaries engaged in the distribution of specialty chemicals in Europe. In 2012 he was appointed CEO of Basf New Business, which promotes business development through emerging technologies and the incubation of startups.
