An Umib 70 Med injection-blow moulding machine and the related mould has been recently supplied by Uniloy Milacron to the M&H Plastics processor in the UK to be used for producing 50-ml round containers with 28-mm neck for products to prevent colic of infants. By this machine the processor aims at introducing the injection-blow moulding process in its production to bridge the gap between the blow moulding and injection-stretch-blow moulding. The medical application imposes a plant with high sterility standard for use in clean room such as for instance the nickel-coated mould area and a constant air flow to avoid possible contaminations.
The injection-blow moulding technology enables a precise control of part tolerances, the production of wide-mouth containers with excellent neck finish, and the reduction of deflashing waste, thus optimizing material and energy consumption. As referred by Ambrogio Invernizzi, product manager responsible for the supply, the machine, completely realized at the Magenta (Italy) facility, is at present wholly devoted to this production and, therefore, future supplies to the same processor could be possible for further productions.
