The Italian CPP film producer B-Pack Due, with plants in Campiglia Marittima (Livorno, Italy) and formerly part of Colines group, has recently been acquired by the Australian company Amcor. The acquisition price was 43 million euros, almost 5 times B-Pack Due's annualised Ebitda of 8.8 million euros. Amcor, whose business had sales in 2009 of 43 million euros, produces approx 24,000 tons/year of high performance films using Polycast extrusion lines supplied by Colines.
The high performance films produced by the Italian processor are complementary to the Amcor range. Key end markets are medical, pet food and other laminated food packaging.
The Australian company was already one of B-Pack Due's customers, absorbing about a third of its production. As part of the acquisition of B-Pack Due, Amcor has also entered into an exclusive supply agreement with Colines for large-capacity CPP film extrusion lines.
