The IT range of injection moulding machines from Ripress was recently extended with the addition of a new model with a 140-ton clamping force. This joins the existing models which have clamping forces of 60, 90, 130, 170, 220, 260, 320, 380, 480 and 580 tons. The clamping unit has a fully electric drive, while the injection unit is based on the established HES system (Hybrid Energy System), the heart of which is the IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) electric motor featuring a neodymium magnet; neodymium is a metal with greater ferromagnetic power than that of the conventional ferrite that is normally used for asynchronous motors.
The resulting small, light and low inertia motors nevertheless guarantee high performance levels, especially at low at low rpm settings. All this results in energy savings of between 30 and 75%, low noise levels, rapid pump responses, and extremely low levels of oil heating, even in the most demanding manufacturing conditions.
