A press conference attended by a considerable number of sector journals was held on April 11 in Milan to relaunch Automata – a company belonging to the Cannon group which has been active in the automation sector for more than thirty years – as a company and brand with a specific target market. It was clear from the words of the speakers (sales director Marco Fantoni, technical director Alessandro Mancini, and general manager Daniela Piatti) that there is a real determination to establish the company as a centre of excellent in its own particular field, the aim being, through a creative and dynamic approach to the market, to capitalise on previous experience.
One aspect of this approach is what has been dubbed the "theorem of the three Is": Internationalisation, Independence, Innovation. Internationalisation is guaranteed by the company's two sites, one in Italy and the other in Germany, where production, commercial and research and development are integrated. Independence is achieved thanks to a diversification of application markets based on open technologies that allow highly scalable products. Finally, innovation derives from new business, product, process and market models.
According to the company, its strengths lie in its ability to generate technical skills and integrate these into multidisciplinary projects, giving rise to a series of advantages for the customer: the possibility to develop and renew products effectively; shorter project development times, making it possible to reach the end customer and the market more quickly, with competitive and more reliable products; integration of the latest technological innovations, so as to deliver new product capabilities and therefore obtain greater market shares; variable research and development costs – reduction of these makes it possible to concentrate investments where and when they are needed.
As far as products for the plastics industry are concerned, Automata will build on its membership of the Cannon group, which, in turn, will benefit from the availability of dedicated automation technologies, integrating these in its own turn-key plants. Furthermore, the company acts as a system integrator of Bosch Rexroth, offering the national plastic materials market solutions for OEMs and end users of machines and processing plants.
