The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Rotational Moulding Division has announced the professional and student winners in its Product Design Competition. The winners will be honored and receive cash awards at the SPE Rotational Moulding TopCon conference, held June 1-4, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Conference Centre in Independence, Ohio. Amongst professionals the first prize went to Jamie Wirkler, product manager of The Kitchen Community, a nonprofit organization that fosters the creation of learning gardens in schools and communities. The winning design was for plastics garden beds that could withstand the same use as playground equipment while serving as attractive containers for food production. The student category was won by Kyle Anderson, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, who designed iCoustics sound amplifiers for iPhones. Furthermore, Honorable Mentions went to ten separate entrants, all of them students at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
