The Ecomolding project, developed jointly by Piovan, Meccanica Generale and Iveco, is an injection moulding process that eliminates the painting operation to overcome the most common problems in the production of aesthetical components: welding lines, sink marks, faulty copying of photoengraving etc.
Specifically, Piovan designed an external unit for thermoregulation of the cooling and heating fluids, whilst Meccanica Generale developed a new technology for mould manufacturing and cooling. Tests demonstrated that aesthetical part quality could actually be improved right in the injection moulding machine, with economical and environmental advantages.
