Among the offers submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development for the acquisition of Vinyls Italy, the only Italian one comes from Industrie Generali. However, the company from Samarate (Varese) is only interested in the Ravenna facility for the production of PVC. According to the industrial plan, it would take over the Ravenna assets, maintaining the 120,000-ton annual output and increasing the workforce from the current 55 employees to 60.
Although its offer officially expired on November 30, Industrie Generali said they were still interested in the operation even after this deadline and are waiting for a call from the Ministry, which will evaluate the entire package of proposals. As referred by CEO Roberto Castiglioni, the company would use at least half of the capacity of the Ravenna facility to produce compound, while the other half would be marketed. He also mentioned that Industrie Generali produced PVC from 1974 to 1998 and therefore has the technology, know-how and market required for the operation.
