The latest survey carried out by the British Plastics Federation among its Members reflects general optimism. Two third of respondents expect an increasing turnover in the second half of the current year. One company out of three (as opposed to one out of four last January) plans to hire new employees in the upcoming 12 months.
The outlook for the sector is thus quite good, although some difficulties still remain for the building and construction application sectors.
Another concern for companies is the extreme volatility of the prices of raw materials, and persistent difficulties in obtaining them, as well as energy costs, which cut into company profits.
