The Working Group revising the European standard for the safety requirements of plastics and rubber presses (EN 289:2004+A1:2008) has requested a meeting with Rivi Magnetics (Sassuolo, Modena, Italy) to review the state of the art in terms of technology and experience in the application of magnetic chucks for mounting moulds in vertical presses.
In a Working Group meeting that took place in Imola on March 6 at the Sacmi facilities, the members of the Group, appointed by the National Standardization Institutes and the Notified Bodies of France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and Italy, spoke with Davide Rivi, who provided an overview of the state of the art based on years of study and practical application.
These discussions confirmed that the draft revision of the standard will refer to methods for controlling the magnetization and demagnetization of the chucks to ensure the maximum level of safety in vertical presses outfitted with magnetic mould chucks.
