According to a Chemorbis press release, Asian plastics and rubber processors are awaiting the imminent start-up of various new plants, mainly in China and India, which will jointly add almost 2 million tons per year to the overall production of PP in the region. Concerns about the insufficiency of supply have lessened in recent weeks with some plants resuming production and others soon to go into operation, helping to balance supply and demand in the upcoming months.
By the end of July 2012, China should add a total of 900,000 tons per year to its output of polypropylene. Likewise, India is planning to add a similar amount this year to its production of this material, while more new plants should go into operation in 2013.
