According to a recent AMI's report on 2,250 German injection moulding companies, despite a negative peak in 2009, this sector has managed to keep its head above water with polymer demand for injection moulding growing at less than 1% per year on average between 2007 and 2012.
The recovery has been driven by a pickup in manufacturing exports, particularly its automotive industries which are a key sector for the injection moulding industry. Over one-quarter of all polymer injection moulded in Germany finds use in an automotive component.
In terms of polymer demand, the distribution is the following: 44% (PP), 16% (PE), 9% (ABS/SAN), 9% (PA), 6% (PS), 16% (others). Germany generates over a quarter of all injection moulding activity within the EU27.
