Autodesk has completed its acquisition of Delcam, the Birmingham-based global supplier of CadCam and industrial measurement solutions for various sectors, ranging from the aerospace and automotive to the toy and sports equipment industries. The plastic industry therefore represents one of the main application sectors for this company, which has more than 30 offices worldwide and around 700 employees; from now on, it will operate as an independent subsidiary fully owned by Autodesk, without significant changes to its operations.
"Autodesk is ensuring Delcam greater financial solidity, as well as the benefit of its design expertise and huge experience in making technology universally accessible. By sharing, through this transaction, our technology and expertise, we will be able to contribute to the promotion of an evolution of the manufacturing market and improve the way in which we design and create everything around us. There will be no changes to Delcam's existing business structure; Autodesk has absolute faith in the company's solutions, leadership and organisation, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to work together to promote the vision, development and implementation of technology for digital manufacturing", remarked Clive Martell, CEO of Delcam. "The acquisition of Delcam is an important step forward in Autodesk's ongoing expansion in the manufacturing sector.  Together with Delcam, we are aiming to speed up the development of complete solutions for digital prototyping and to offer better production experience", concluded Buzz Kross, senior vice president of Design, Lifecycle and Simulation at Autodesk.
