On 6 and 7 March, BFM opened the doors to its Solbiate Olona (near Varese, Italy) facility to feature an 8-colour Marte flexographic printing machine and a BF 106 HS 800 automatic bagmaking machine.
The flexographic printing machines features gearless technology with a temperature-controlled, dimensionally stabilized central drum that achieves a production output of 350 metres per minute with repeat length of 300 to 800 mm. Ceramic anilox and cliché cylinders are changed directly on the machine, while print drying is accomplished by means of a dual-burner gas system. The line also includes automatic winding and unwinding units and an automatic washing system.
The automatic bagmaking machine is specifically designed for the production of "heavy-duty bags" with high quality bottom seam, high wall thickness and side bellows meeting the ISO 7965-2 international standard, especially as regards drop tests. The line includes a motor-driven unwinding unit for reels up to 1500 mm in diameter, an automatic film guide, a welder with an innovative transverse cutting system equipped with brushless motor, Ni-Cr welding with electronic control of processing settings and an automatic stacker for bag bundles.
