RC Run Safe Pack is the system used with Rodolfo Comerio calenders since the 1990s. Thanks to technological developments and ongoing progress, it now boasts precision to the millimetre. The package proposed by the manufacturer at Plast 2015 comprised 3 systems: RC GAPSystem; RC LaminatingSystem; and RC Roll SafeSystem. The international fair in Milan provided a preview of an entire calender line developed for special applications in the rubber processing industry. Still in construction, the line was presented with the support of 3D video. Characterized by the particular L-shaped configuration of the calenders and the dimension of the rollers, with diameter and width respectively of 750 and 2700 mm, it is able to process a wide range of materials.

Three-dimensional video imaging was also used in the presentation of other innovative solutions. An automated unit for the construction of conveyor belts was launched at the plant in Solbiate Olona (province of Varese), where guided tours were offered during Plast. Rodolfo Comerio calls it a true revolution in the forming of the reinforcement for the extra-thick belts. The line is able to wind and unwind coils having diameters greater than 4.2 m.

For tyre producers, the company presents its line for rubberizing textile “cords”, again complemented by the use of 3D video imaging. Also new is the automatic system developed for drawing in rubberized materials, both thin and very thick, on the cooling unit.

There were also a lot of new items for plastics, including machines for the production of luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring that have been designed and configured to suit the specific process and production needs of each converter, an area where Rodolfo Comerio has distinguished itself as a high-profile manufacturer with projects all over the world. Other guided tours of the company’s production facilities introduced guests to a line for laminating and embossing PVC sheets.

Over the past 5 years, continuing innovation in calendering lines for PVC has included the development of a new take-off and stretching unit with independent controls on each roller for greater precision and accuracy in the stretching and curing phase, making it possible to achieve increasingly high levels of quality and efficiency.
