Ever since 1957 Motomeccanica has been designing, industrialising and producing powerful gearmotors, 80% of which are destined for installation on plastics and rubber processing machines manufactured by Italian companies. Along with the mere size of the transmission units exhibited by Motomeccanica at Plast 2015, another remarkable aspect that emerges when talking with Flavio Braga – CEO of this family-owned enterprise – is their serenity before the challenges of the market, provided that three basic rules are respected: reliability, punctuality and ongoing innovation. As regards the latter rule, Flavio Braga was keen to point out that innovations have to be brought forward above all from the perspective of logic.
This is indeed how - following a review of design, but also manufacturing methods - a gearmotor that five or six years ago could end up weighing 20,000 kg today weighs no more than 5,000-6,000 kg, while nevertheless handling the same power and serving the same applications. The ones that stand to benefit from this development are the manufacturers of mixers and calendars for rubber, whose machine layouts become much easier to work out.
