The automotive industry represents a major application sector for ST Soffiaggio Tecnica which has introduced a technical development on its Aspi 150.2 Seco blow moulding machine. This machine is suitable for the production of technical parts with different overlapping layers (longitudinal co-extrusion), or with the same ones in sequential arrangement (sequential co-extrusion). The equipment has been recently tested in the company’s facilities and will be installed at a well-known Korean company producing components for the automotive industry.
This machine is equipped with two extruders with screw diameters of 60 mm, two material accumulators with accumulation capacity of 1 litre and it has a clamping force 200 kN.
What differentiates this machine to others of the same model, is the development regarding the extrusion head. On this Aspi Seco the new 4WDS radial thickness control has been integrated for the first time.
This device is entirely based on the experience and know-how of ST Soffiaggio Tecnica and its main advantages are the following: four independently working actuators; no backlash thanks to direct drive of the cylinders on the die; transducer controls the die position directly; even heating. In addition, with 500 control points, it maintains a uniform wall thickness, also when producing most critical parts and components.
