A latest generation line for extruding ABS and HIPS+PS, with useful width of between 500 and 950 mm and between 0.8 and 6 mm thick, was recently developed by Union for Beko. The line, reaching an output rate of 600 kg/hour and 800 kg/hour in the processing of ABS and HIPS+PS parts respectively, is fitted with a main single screw TR 150 extruder, with double degassing unit, combined with a single screw TR 60 extruder, also with degassing unit for the coextrusion stage. The plant, which produces laminated A-B type plates, features superior mechanical resistance and shine, and finds application primarily in manufacturing refrigerators, is being exhibited at an open house at the manufacturer's premises in San Vittore Olona (near Milan) during the month of January.
Also at its premises in January, Union is testing a line for the production of R-PET sheets, with thickness of between 0.2 and 1.2 mm and a useful width of 1700 mm. Capable of hourly production of 1500 kg, the plant includes the co-rotating twin-screw extruder ZP 112 (L/D = 52), with four degassing units to process 100% recycled material from post consumption and industrial waste. The sheets it manufactures have advanced optical properties and can be thermoformed easily.
