On January 29 this year, the manufacturer FB Balzanelli was described, in an article published in “Il Sole 24 Ore” (Italian daily newspaper of economic information) as a top Italian company. Reference was also made to its latest achievement: machine model FBML7 5200, designed and created specifically for the winding of smooth polyethylene pipes having diameters of up to 250 mm and thicknesses of 24 mm, and capable of producing reels of 500 linear metres, external diameter of 5500 mm, width of 2400 mm and weighing as much as 10 tons.
This is a project that began years ago with the construction, in collaboration with the company Lunardon, of the first FBML7 4012 and FBML7 4024 machines, and has culminated in the present FBML7 5200 model: this is undoubtedly a major achievement for FB Balzanelli, as it certainly put the company’s entire staff to the test before finally rewarding the excellent work of all the technicians.
According to the manufacturer, the above characteristics make the FBML7 5200 the largest automatic winder ever built (among those currently present on the global market).
The winder can automatically hook and wind pipe, perform intermediate and final binding operations, and unload the reel, all the time using its “round pipe” system to monitor the roundness.
Being able to package 500 metres of gas piping as a single reel translates into incredible advantages for end users; in fact, the system replaces the current 39 welds (at best) with just one every 500 metres.
