In the first two months of 2017, Sipa saw its orders increasing by 20% compared with the same period in 2016. The most important contracts driving this increase include one with IBG, a leading Italian name in the beverages sector, which has purchased three rotary blow moulding machines from the company based in Vittorio Veneto (Treviso, Italy).

IBG, which is headquartered in Caserta and owns the historic Chinotto Neri brand, is sole producer of the Pepsi brand for southern Italy and also markets other well-known brands, namely Gatorade, The Lipton and Looza (produced for the whole of Italy by San Benedetto, which, on behalf of PepsiCo, is also producer of the Pepsi brand for northern Italy). The ceremony for the inauguration of the new machines at the Buccino (Salerno) plant was attended by Rosario Caputo and Angelo Fiorillo, respectively chairman and general manager of IBG, Gianfranco Zoppas, president of Zoppas Industries (the group to which Sipa belongs), Matteo Zoppas, president of Confindustria Veneto, and Marcello Pincelli, CEO of PepsiCo Beverage Italia. They were joined by Vincenzo Boccia, president of Confindustria, who underlined the importance, for the whole of Italian industry, of this virtuous example of Italian manufacturing.

“Sipa and IBG are two names that stand out in the economic fabric of our country and, thanks to the foresightedness of the entrepreneurs at their helm, they have set up a collaboration partnership that may be taken as a model for industry throughout our country: the technological excellence of a company from the North marries the production excellency of one from the South Nord, and the result is a virtuous relationship that allows PepsiCo Italia to obtain a cutting-edge service. It is precisely through synergies of this kind, set up in pursuit of a common goal, that Italian companies can achieve their best results, and drive the growth of the country as a whole”, remarked Boccia.

In reply, Gianfranco Zoppas commented “We are very aware of the efforts of president Vincenzo Boccia, to support entrepreneurs who, like us, do their best every day to create jobs and growth in what is certainly a challenging setting, and we are therefore very pleased to have him here with us today. Even in the years when the economic crisis was deepest, Sipa never stopped being prepared to invest in research and development, so as to be able to pursue new technological solutions and meet customers’ needs. Being chosen not only by IBG, but also, among our other customers, by Suntory - one of the world's leading groups in the beverages sector - is a confirmation of the high quality standards of our products and of our company’s competitiveness on the international markets”.

In these early months of 2017, Sipa’s machines have indeed caught the eye of the Japanese group Suntory, which is among the leading global manufacturers and distributors of beverages. Suntory has purchased the most innovative machine produced by the Veneto-based manufacturer, namely Xtreme, a revolutionary injection-compression system that makes it possible to produce lighter preforms than can be obtained with traditional injection moulding, thereby saving energy, cutting costs, and ensuring more sustainable production thanks to the reduction of waste materials. The machine is protected by around twenty international patents, including those already granted and those in the process of being granted.

In 2016, Sipa recorded sales volumes amounting to around 220 million euros, with exports generating over 90% of this total. It is the second largest manufacturer of systems for the engineering and production of moulds and PET containers and it has a global workforce of 1,100 people. Headquartered in Italy, the company works through 17 sales offices, three production plants (two in Italy and one in China), and 30 after-sales service centres providing technical support and spare parts. It has installed 6,500 systems in 120 different countries and has 2,300 clients which include the major groups operating in the beverage industry worldwide.
