The plastic laminate manufacturer, Plastisavio, assigned an order to Union for the supply of a second line with a capacity of 1,500 kg/h for the production of thermoforming sheets starting from 100% post-consumer material. For some years now, Plastisavio has been using another similar line supplied by the same manufacturer, based in San Vittore Olona (Milan). The order for the new line, which will be installed in the coming months at the Plastisavio site in Mercato Saraceno (Forlì Cesena), is part of the company’s investment plan for 2022.
The cleaning of incoming materials is achieved through mechanical filtration and degassing systems in order to guarantee the high quality of the final product, which will be identical to those obtained from virgin materials. The extrudates will be particularly thin and highly stable, so as to combine physical and aesthetic properties in order to meet the needs of current and future customers. Its possible applications include car components, fruit and vegetable and horticultural packaging as well as building panels.
The reuse of post-consumer plastics makes it possible to manufacture cost-effective and efficient products, as well as to reduce the CO2 emissions along the entire production chain, thus allowing the new extrusion line to contribute to the circular economy.
