It's not just a question of materials

At the pre-K 2025 conference organised by EMG on 4-5 June in Rotterdam, OQ – an integrated energy and polymer company headquartered in Oman – presented its strategic advancements in the downstream sector, reaffirming the key role that design, engineering, and innovation play in improving quality of life. With an operational network spanning 17 countries and production rising from 1.2 to 1.9 million tonnes in just three years, the company is establishing itself as a global player in the polymer value chain.
The company announced the launch of 17 new polymer grades developed to address three essential megatrends: food safety, water scarcity, and energy efficiency. These new solutions – including recyclable HDPE for flexible packaging, weather-resistant materials for water storage, and high-performance grades for the automotive sector – are designed to meet real market needs and converter demands. “It’s not just about materials,” stated Abdul Rahman Al Tamtami, Vice President Global Marketing at OQ Polymer Marketing. “It’s about people, collaboration, and creating value throughout the entire value chain”.
A cornerstone of OQ’s approach is open innovation: the company offers customers advanced testing and application development services through laboratories equipped with extrusion, moulding, film, and blow moulding lines. The support also includes regulatory compliance – particularly for European markets – reflecting a strong commitment to efficiency and sustainability. The company highlighted the strategic role Europe plays in its distribution network, with regional supply chains and logistics hubs designed to provide reliable and efficient customer service. Demonstrating the robustness of its logistics model, the company fulfilled 99% of promised deliveries, even during recent geopolitical crises.
“Five years ago, we had a promise. Today, we have a full product portfolio and a growing customer base. We want to create value with our partners and face future megatrends together,” said Abdul Rahman Al Tamtami.
