Gruppo Piber strengthens its position in rigid food packaging through Europack
Through its subsidiary Tecnofoodpack, Gruppo Piber has acquired a controlling stake in Europack from Cuki Cofresco. Europack has been active since the 1990s in the thermoforming of rigid plastic containers for food packaging, catering to the HoReCa sector and large-scale retail.
Europack operates from its facility in Pontinia (Latina, Italy), employing 40 staff and running 13 thermoforming lines and three extrusion lines. In 2024, the company recorded a turnover exceeding 12 million euros. With this acquisition, Gruppo Piber consolidates its presence in the Italian rigid food packaging market, where it currently operates with four production plants specialising in injection moulding, extrusion, and thermoforming. The group employs approximately 650 people and generates an annual turnover of around 130 million euros.
This transaction aligns with Gruppo Piber’s strategic objectives, which focus on optimising commercial and production synergies, expanding its product range and geographical reach, and enhancing production capacity. In particular, Europack’s Pontinia facility brings specific expertise in the production of PP and PET packaging, in compliance with the latest PPWR regulations on recyclability and recycled content.
