Marine litter

On March 22, during the 5th "International Marine Debris Conference" in Honolulu, 47 global plastics Associations signed a declaration about marine litter management. The declaration describes steps that the industries will take, and suggests approaches and platforms for global cooperation and future partnerships.
Basic points are described in the approved document. They are mentioned here below:
- contribute to solutions by working in public-private partnerships aimed at preventing marine debris
- promote comprehensive science-based policies and enforcement of existing laws to prevent marine litter
- help spread knowledge regarding eco-efficient waste management systems and practices, particularly in communities and countries that border oceans and watersheds
- enhance opportunities to recover plastic products for recycling and energy recovery.
