Drying validated by TÜV
In order to obtain certification of the energy savings attainable with Genesys drying systems, Piovan instructed TÜV, an independent certification body, to test a unit installed at the facilities of a European beverage producer. The result was a 69.2-W/kg/h power consumption after 7 months of run. This is the lowest value ever recorded, demonstrating that energy costs can be reduced by up to 50% in comparison with traditional PET drying systems.
The Genesys weight-in-loss drying system ensures a consistent process and an efficient use of energy, thus reducing consumption by 30-50% via improved management, stabilization, and regeneration of the air flow. According to the company, the system, which automatically determines the air load required for an optimal drying, is the only auto-adaptive one available on the market. The test was carried out on a GP55 model equipped with a 4,500-liter hopper at a process air temperature of 175°C. The processed material was high intrinsic viscosity (0.8 dl/g) PET, normally used for beverage bottles.
