Transatlantic collaboration

During the Thermoforming Conference organized by the Society of Plastics Engineering (SPE) in Schaumburg, Illinois, the American company Processing Technology International (PTI) of Aurora presented a PET sheet extrusion plant built together with Bandera SpA of Busto Arsizio (Varese, Italy).
The line comprises an 85 mm twin screw extruder (L/D=52) manufactured by Bandera, for the production of single-layer sheets using a non-dehumidified mix of 40% virgin PET, 40% recycled sheet, and 20% recycled bottles. There is also the option of using 100% material from recycled bottles.
The demo plant, a High-Vacuum Twin-Screw Extruder (HVTSE), achieves an output of 550 kg/hr.
