Moretto project wins Mimprendo prize
A project entitled the "Influence of drying treatments on plastic products", developed by two students from the University of Padua under the guidance of Alberto Saccon, who is a member of the R&D team at Moretto, has won the Mimprendo 2012-2013 prize, this year being awarded for the fourth time. The presentation ceremony took place on June 6 at the University's Palazzo del Bo.
By bringing together the intellectual and creative potential of university students and the development needs of companies, the Mimprendo prize aims to be a driving force for innovation, helping to provide a new response to the need for increasingly virtuous relations between the academic world and industry. In the running for the 2012-2013 prize were 15 teams comprising a total of 60 aspiring engineers, statisticians, psychologists and mathematicians, selected from among the 150 candidates who had submitted projects in different specialties. The winning project underlines some important aspects of the process of drying plastic materials, in particular the relationship between the air flow and the humidity of the material. The project also highlights several variables able to guarantee a correct dehumidifying treatment, thereby allowing remarkable energy savings, process optimisation, and a good-quality injection moulded product. Moretto, a company based in Massanzago (near Padua), believes very strongly in the importance of investing in research to develop innovative projects, encouraging and cultivating new talent.
