Innovation for caps
The innovative feature of the 72-cavity Daisy mould – developed by Gefit, based in Fubine (Alessandria, Italy), for the production of 1881-type caps for water and carbonated drink bottles – is the significantly smaller size in comparison with conventional moulds having the same number of cavities. This makes it possible to use an injection moulding machine with a lower clamping force and thus to save space and reduce energy consumption.
In particular, a circular structure is placed around the male to reduce the distance between the cavities in the mould. A 6-petal corolla anchored to this structure replaces the carriages.
