Brazilian recycling
A recent market study reveals that selective collection in Brazil is considerably growing, year after year.
In 1994 only 81 municipalities adopted the selective collection while in 2010 this amount reached 443.
Almost 800 businesses are nowadays registered in Brazil as recyclable-plastics collectors; if compared to 2007, the local plastics recycling rate has topped 21%.
Industrial recyclable plastics waste increased as well thanks to a national regulation passed in August 2010 which requires factories, plastic products importers and distributors and sales companies to set off such waste.
