Biodegradable plasticizers

After approximately two years of research working in collaboration with the multinational BioAmber, Lanxess has developed a phthalate-free plasticizer based on succinic acid.
This acid is currently produced in France in a BioAmber plant with a production capacity of 3000 tons per year. However, Lanxess plans call for the start-up of a similar plant in Sarnia, Canada, where its bio-materials production plant is located.
