On September 20, CAM2 (Faro Technologies group) unveiled the new Vantage laser tracker, which combines improved performance with an extremely compact design. Features including SmartFind, MultiView and built-in WLAN connection speed up 3D measurement operations, allowing the achievement of unprecedented levels of speed and efficiency. Despite being 25% smaller and 28% lighter than its predecessor, the Vantage laser tracker has new, integrated in-line optic systems that increase the range of measurement by 45%, taking it to a maximum of 80 m (160 m diameter). Thanks to the built-in WLAN, there is no longer any need for a cable connection to laptops. This is, thus, a truly portable tracker able to capture more measurements with fewer movements of the device, and more rapidly than the previous models.
SmartFind responds to simple operator gestures, allowing the desired target to be rapidly located whenever the laser beam is lost or interrupted. The MultiView has two built-in cameras that allow automatic pointing to specific, poorly accessible targets. Being waterproof and dust-resistant (protection rating IP52), the instrument can also be used rainy and damp conditions without impairment of its functioning. The TruADM technology guarantees the level of accuracy needed for everyday applications, where differences between absolute distance measurements and interferometer measurements are largely irrelevant. The predictive algorithms of this fifth-generation technology allow dynamic measurements to be captured easily, scanning with the target.
