This year sees Bausano & Figli reaching the significant landmark of 70 years in business. It was indeed 1946 when Clemente Bausano founded Costruzioni Meccaniche Clemente Bausano in Rivarolo Canavese, just outside Turin - the same company that is now an established name, at global level, in the construction of equipment and lines for the extrusion of plastic materials. The newly founded company took advantage of the buzz of the post-WWII years which were characterised, in Italy, with a strong desire to rebuild, both society and industry. In the year of its foundation the company produced its first TR extruder, characterised, like all those that were to follow, by the presence of two intermeshed counter-rotating screws. From this point on, the company’s story is one of important milestones, and steady, uninterrupted growth, right up to the present day.

In 1962, the company changed site, moving from the centre to the outskirts of Rivarolo where it set up what was to become, after being extended a number of times, the  operating headquarters as we know it today. When the sons of the founder - Eraldo, the group’s president, and Livio (who died prematurely in a plane crash in 1994) - joined the business, the company also changed name, becoming Bausano & Figli.

In 1982, the manufacturer patented a revolutionary new transmission system, called Multidrive, whose main features were the presence of not one but four motors per machine and a completely redesigned gear housing, which reduced the torsion stress on each motor and each gear to a quarter of the previous levels. This had a hugely positive impact on the life and the performance of the extruder.

In the 1990s, the company was one of the first in this sector to obtain ISO 9001 quality certification, which represents confirmation of the fact that all the stages in the production of the machines, from production through to the after-sales service, are constantly monitored in order to guarantee the very best level of quality available in this category. This was also the period that saw the company becoming firmly established on the international markets through the opening, in 1999 in São Paulo, of a true production unit, created with the aim of serving Brazil and the whole of South America.

Since then, Bausano & Figli has operated on an increasingly global stage. In 2011, the company started a joint venture with Rajoo Engineers, one of India's leading manufacturers of extrusion lines. Rajoo Bausano Extrusion manufactures and markets, in India, Bausano’s full range of extrusion lines, thereby guaranteeing Italian quality at a lower price.

Well aware of the importance of research and development in the creation of value for its machine users, Bausano & Figli, in which the third generation of the family is now represented through the founder’s grandchildren, has always been committed to the development of new products and applications. These include technologies for the processing of foam materials and WPC and multilayer extrusion.
