On November 10, the appointment of Claudio Marani as general manager of the Sacmi group was made official.

A graduate in chemical engineering and part of the group since 1981, Marani has had different roles in Sacmi (Società Anonima Cooperativa Meccanici Imola). To begin with, these were overseas roles, first as a project leader in North Africa and then as an area manager covering different countries across the world, including the USA, Turkey and Eastern Europe. Having “come home”, in 1997 he became sales director of Sacmi Impianti Milano, a branch of the parent company with a long tradition. In 2000, he was appointed general manager of the Ceramics Division, an important role within the group, which he still holds today.

“To continue the policy of investments and innovation that has taken the Sacmi group to the summit of global manufacturing”. This is how Marani, 65, sums up his strategy for the company for the coming years, a strategy that will also focus on: internationalisation, an even better technical service, and investments, both in technology and in human resources, with a view to Industry 4.0.

Finally, following the official confirmation of Marani’s appointment by the Sacmi board of directors, chairman Paolo Mongardi underlined the positive results recorded this year in terms of turnover, employment and sales volumes in all the main reference business areas and markets, and suggested that the 2016 turnover could top the 1.4 billion euro mark (it reached 1,354 billion in 2015).
