The Italian companies Cofit, Fimic and Icma San Giorgio, manufacturers of machines for recycling plastics and rubber, and Rialti, a compound producer, are included in the list of finalists of the second edition of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe, organized by Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE), the association of European recyclers. The winners will be announced on the occasion of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe, scheduled in Amsterdam on April 11. The seven different award categories this year are: Building & Construction Product of the Year, Automotive, Electrical or Electronic Product of the Year, Household & Leisure Product of the Year, Plastic Packaging Product of the Year, Product Technology Innovation of the Year, Recycling Machinery Innovation of the Year and Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year.
Cofit, Icma San Giorgio (companies which are members of Amaplast, the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers’ association), and Rialti are nominated in the Recycling Machinery Innovaiton of the Year category, respectively Gorillabelt T, an automatic and continuous screen changer for plastics recycling, EcoImpatto, a mixed plastics extrusion line for postconsumer waste, and an extrusion line for forced power supply MMDT for polypropylene recycling. Fimic is nominated in the Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year with Erica Canaia, sales director.
“With an extended number of categories and 40 finalists confirmed, the second edition of the awards is a perfect illustration of the continuous technological development and growing innovation in the sector. This year’s finalists demonstrate not only their goal to improve the efficiency and quality of plastics recycling processes but also the goal of making plastic products more circular,” said Ton Emans, PRE President.
The distinguished panel of judges for the awards includes: 2018 Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year Willemijn Peeters, CEO of Searious Business, the social enterprise committed to preventing plastics from ending up in our environment, Bart Bleijerveld Founder and Design Lead at Better Future Factory, Rune Thoralfsson, owner and director of Norfolier GreenTec, the largest film recycler in the Nordic region, Ton Emans President of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) and Director Group Recycling in Cedo and Karen Laird Editor of Plastics News Europe.
Open to organisations and individuals across Europe who are involved in the recycling of plastic materials, the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe are organised jointly by Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) and Crain Communications, organisers of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe. The Plastics Recycling Show is a pan-European, free-to-attend exhibition and a conference designed specifically for plastics recycling professionals. It brings together key players from the plastics and recycling sectors to showcase innovative technology, share best practice, network and do business.
