A new printing machine for plastic bottle caps with a 2-colour dry-offset head by Moss has been recently installed and started up at the premises of a major Ethiopian plastic processor, already supplier of PepsiCo. The machine will decorate the caps of soft drink bottles. Before this one, Moss had already delivered a single-colour screen printer for bottle caps in the Ethiopian territory.
The new MO 3062 printing machine is able to print up to 75,000 PCO 28 caps per hour thanks to its modular dry-offset printing head that can be customized in up to four colours. The print adjustments can be made while machine is operating, as a result maintaining a smooth and exact control of the amount of ink transferred onto the cap, minimizing waste and consumption of raw materials.
The electronic inking of the printing rollers allows for regulating real time the quality of the decoration directly from the 4.0 B&R touchscreen HMI, which controls the whole machine. This feature has now become a common trait of all Moss machines, as it ensures excellent print quality even at top speed and helps cutting down the waste of ink.
All Moss cap-printing machines immediately dry the ink transferred during decoration by high-performance UV systems, which cure the inks while the caps are still in the machine. The dried product is then ready to be processed by an automatic boxing system.
