The standard ISO 20430 has been published on April 22, 2020, at the end of a long activity, which has lasted about seven years, for the study of the standard for the safety of plastics and rubber injection moulding machines, within the ISO/TC 270 Technical Committee, with the active participation of over 30 experts from the national standards bodies of 13 countries, coordinated by Bernd Nötel of the German association VDMA,.

Three aspects have to be considered of particular importance and underlined:

- ISO 20430:2020 is the first standard recognized worldwide for the plastics and rubber machinery sector and allows the manufacturers of these machines to have a unique normative reference valid worldwide (in fact, 121 countries are ISO members);

- the EN ISO version of the standard, which shall include Annex ZA (that sums up the specific EHSRs, reported in Annex I of the Machinery Directive 2006/42 / EC, taken into consideration in the standard) will be published at the end of May;

- the ISO/TC 270 Technical Committee, currently chaired by Claudio Celata and UNI Secretariat, has been created and financially supported by Amaplast, that before starting the activity had to overcome considerable resistance by non-European organizations.
