As mentioned in the 13 October edition of the e-news, the plastic that melts away and disappears without releasing harmful substances is known as Minerv-Pha and is produced by a small Italian firm, Bio-on of Minerbio (Bologna).
Bio-on has now decided to entrust construction of its PHA plant, which will use residues from cane-sugar and beet-sugar production, to the firm Techint Engineering & Construction of  Milan.
The technology developed in the past five years by Bio-on (with sub-products and collaboration from Co.Pro.B.) is available throughout the world on the industrial scale, envisaging plants with a production capacity of 10,000 tons per year.
