After having introduced the hydraulic version in September 2011, Negri Bossi has now developed the electric version of the EOS (dawn in Greek) range of two-platen, small tonnage injection-moulding machines. The 80-ton model of the new Eleos line was presented at PLAST 2012, where it produced needle guards in PP in a 48-cavity mould. The machine uses hydraulics for the ejector and to pressurize platen clamping, while an electric drive is used for plasticizing, platen opening and closing (via recirculating ball bearings), and injection.
This combination is considered the most appropriate for enhancing clean operation in the mould area, mould precision, and reduction in consumption (which was already a notable feature of the hydraulic version). In particular, energy savings, achieved through point-by-point research in the EOS SE (Smart Energy) range, have been increased by 10-15%.
