An extrusion plant for cast polypropylene film (CPP) - currently in the set-up stage - has been manufactured by Dolci Extrusion for a major central European processor. According to the manufacturer, this plant will reach a net output of 1000 kg/hour, producing films with maximum width of 2400 mm.
Though compact in size, the plant layout allows the installation of up to 7 extruders, as a result enabling the production of barrier films. The variable-width head incorporates a special device designed to speed up cleaning operations without removing any components. The chill roll unit comes with "horizontal/vertical" position adjustments and provides for strict thermal tolerance over its entire width thanks to an original coolant cross-flow system. Placed between the chill roll and the treatment section, a stabilization unit avoids the unwanted withdrawal of the film once it has been wound, also increasing the mechanical properties of the film roll.
The rewinder features special winding arms and can operate in both directions of rotation, carrying out automatic roll changes and in-line cuts, and forming perfect rolls without the need for rewinder-cutter devices. The cutting unit incorporated a knife and blade positioning feature with laser pointers. The trim recovery system is designed to prevent any contamination of the film and is based on an independent extruder which produces a profile rather than a regenerated granule in order to avoid product degradation.
The new extrusion plant will be exhibited to the public in the coming weeks at the Dolci Extrusion showroom.
