An adiabatic ADcooler unit was recently installed by Eurochiller at the facilities of Elysee Irrigato, a Cypriote manufacturer of gardening and irrigation products. The converted was interested in overhauling its cooling system to reduce energy consumption and costs so its products could be more competitive on the market. The situation is particularly critical during summer months, when both demand for and cost of electricity to operate the air conditioning systems in tourist facilities reach a peak.
The Italian manufacturer thus immediately focused on reducing operating costs of chillers that were already installed. In the specific case, the client's process required a temperature range of 20-25°C. The existing chillers produced water at 12°C that was then mixed, according to production needs, with warmer water to obtain water at 25°C, consuming 95 kW/h of electricity. During the 5-month summer season, this translated into an electricity bill of 90,680 euros. Considering the low relative humidity levels in the summer, the first thought was that the use of an ADcooler would have brought excellent results in terms of cooling efficiency and water temperature even during the hottest months of the year. Based on these considerations, a Model ADC-L 500 ADcooler Large was sized and delivered to ensure a constant operating temperature of 25°C even when the outside summer temperature was 36°C. This solution allowed the user to reduce its summer electricity consumption to 29.5 kW/h and its electricity bill to 28,160 euro, corresponding to a huge savings of 62,520 euro, or a 70% reduction in consumption and costs.
