The extrusion and coextrusion lines manufactured by S Plastic Machinery for the sheet and plate production are characterised, in particular, by the use of high torque motors without gearboxes. This solution, which makes it possible to offer technologically advanced systems at competitive prices, first of all translates into a simplified construction, energy savings of around 0.032 W per kg of sheet produced and reduced maintenance requirements, as well as an incredibly low level of noise.
Cooling of the extruder can be accomplished by air or water, with bimetallic or nitrided plasticizing chambers. The screws can be capped (Colmonoy) or hardened/polished, and designed to handle a wide range of polymers or tailored to specific materials.
The calender rolls are suitable for producing sheets and plates up to 12 mm thick; they are available in different configurations, with rolls oriented horizontally, vertically or inclined at an angle. Each roll has an independent AC motor drive, its own high-efficiency cooling circuit, and can be equipped with a cross-axing device to optimally distribute the pressure across the entire surface of the sheet.
