Promoted by Assocomaplast (the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers' association) and Ucimu (the Italian machine tool, robots, automation systems and ancillary products manufacturers' association), the Italian Technology Center (ITC) was inaugurated on March 6in Pune, near Mumbai, India. Present at the opening ceremonies were roughly thirty guests, associations and companies - Deccan Chamber of Commerce, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA), SAET Group - and representatives of the local press. Currently supported by approximately a dozen Italian firms, including Tria, the Center will monitor the Indian market for possible applications and sales opportunities (particularly the automotive, home appliance, and rail transport markets) to promote Italian-made technology in the local area.
