Specialised in the supply of high performance solutions for motion control, Moog has announced plans to expand and strengthen its resources at its production site in Casella, in the province of Genoa (Italy), to gain a leading position in Europe and acquire new market share. The company has ceased its efforts to sell the business and is now focused on new initiatives that will extend the product offering and expertise in the field of brushless servo systems.

The Casella plant currently has an overall area of 33,000 sqm and operates with a workforce of 80 employees who design and manufacture standard and customized motors and drives for the Italian and international markets. The new strategy will focus on innovative production processes for Moog Casella’s products that are used in a number of industries, including robotics, blow and injection moulding of plastic materials, metal forming, food, packaging, textiles, small wind turbines and aeronautics.

Larry Ball, president of Moog Components Group, commented: “Our objective is to fully satisfy the requirements of our customers and offer more solutions. The integration of the Casella plant into our segment and overall strategy will add research and development capabilities and expand our business in Europe.” In addition to Ball, Mark Whisler, general manager, and Paul Murphy, group vice president and general manager, of Moog Components, will be at the helm of the Casella site.
