On May 18, 2016, Solvay Specialty Polymers, a leading global supplier of high-performance thermoplastics, announced the appointment of Nevicolor as distributor of its entire Ryton polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) product line in Italy. This significantly expands the broad portfolio of Solvay’s specialty polymers currently distributed by Nevicolor through its direct sales force across all Italian regions.

Ryton PPS compounds offer a unique combination of properties and a cost/performance balance unmatched by other engineering thermoplastics. The show a remarkable combination of both long-term resistance to temperatures up to 200°C (392°F) and short-term resistance to temperatures up to 260°C (500° F). Their dimensional Stability allows the injection moulding even of complex parts with very tight tolerances and maintaining dimensional stability even at high temperatures and in harsh chemical environment. In fact, these compounds are resistant to a wide variety of solvents and corrosive chemicals even at elevated temperatures. Furthermore, all Ryton PPS compounds have UL94 V-0 flammability ratings without flame retardant additives.

“We are very pleased to offer the Ryton PPS products to our Italian-based customers through Nevicolor, who can provide the coverage we were seeking to service all regions of Italy. Adding Ryton PPS was a natural fit considering Nevicolor’s long-standing commitment to Solvay Specialty Polymers, and it offers substantial synergies across Solvay’s product portfolio”, stated Vincent Meunier, EMEA channel partners manager, Solvay Specialty Polymers.

“The new agreement is a natural extension of the nearly 30-year partnership with Solvay and all supply chain, technical, and logistical service levels are in place to immediately meet the requirements of our customers”, added Alessandro Negri, managing director of Nevicolor.

The collaboration with Nevicolor in Italy began in the Eighties with the distribution of Solvay Specialty Polymers’ Ixef polyarylamide (PARA) product line. Today, Nevicolor also distributes Solvay’s  Solef polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA), Halar ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer (ECTFE), Polymist polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micronized powders, Hyflon perfluoroalkoxy (PFA/MFA), KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK), AvaSpire polyaryletherketone (PAEK), Omnix and Kalix high-performance polyamides (HPPA).
