The company from Coccaglio (Brescia, Italy) officially announced the acquisition, dated May 31, of Laborsil (Bergamo, Italy), founded in 2006, that manufactures silicone and fluorinated silicone compounds.

“The acquisition is an important building block for Comet’s growth strategy, because it allows our company to complete its range of products by also providing silicone compounds”, says Matteo Bernini, Comet’s managing director.

Thanks to these strategic choices, Comet strengthens its role, by confirming its leadership on the Italian and international market. The constant research work and product development by Comet includes, so far, more than 4000 different formulations of rubber compounds, divided into standard and customised recipes, and destined to different industries, from appliances to automotive, from construction industry to oil & gas and water industry, the mining industry and footwear.

The drive towards a continuous innovation - reached with the acquisition of 100% of Laborsil - represents a further step towards Comet’s development: starting from its transfer to the new plant in Coccaglio, Brescia, inaugurated last May 27, the company shows how growth is directly related to an investment in quality, even in terms of attention to the environmental impact. With its experience of over 30 years, Comet - founded in 1980 and 100% controlled by BHF, the company owned by the Bernini family - closed the year 2015 growing, with a turnover of 43 million euros, an annual output of about 20,000 tons of rubber compounds and a total of 86 employees.

The acquisition of Laborsil - located in Bergamo and boasting a turnover of 5.8 million euros and 12 employees - also confirms the Comet’s roots on the Bergamo-Brescia axis. Laborsil’s former operational partners, Artistide Plebani and Tiziano Tresoldi, will remain at the company in order to ensure all the necessary business continuity and transfer of skills.

“This important acquisition allows Laborsil to continue its growth path, being able to invest more in research and development, such as on commercial and technical growth, and increasing its presence abroad”, declares Matteo Bernini, CEO of Comet, who runs the company together with his sister, Simona, and his father, Lorenzo.
