Moss family of printing equipment for plastic caps has been extended with the new Laser Cap model, engineered to etch the inside of bottle caps with a high-speed laser. The laser beam is suitable to mark ID matrix, bar codes or QR codes and graphics such as logos, icons or symbols. Thanks to the special software integrated in the touchscreen panel, it is possible to mark sequential, incremental and serial numbers.
Laser Cap has been developed to meet the need of etching texts or pictures for promos or ads. The laser technology does not use any kind of ink or coloring agent and it is for such reason the only choice to mark single piece HDPE caps without liner.
A Laser Cap has recently been integrated in the cap production line of a main South American bottle cap manufacturer, which already owned two Moss rotary offset printers for top printing of caps. The new machine is installed downstream of a vision inspection system and it is in a position to mark up to 1500 caps/minute, depending on the properties of the plastic material, the feeding system capacity and the complexity of marking (type of font, size of character, quantity of vectors for graphics).
