After years of hype and expectation, graphene has now reached the point at which it can be transferred from prototype application to mass product production. Bandera, with its extrusion knowledge in the design and construction of extrusion machinery, has created Grapholymer, a technology to create reinforced compounds and process them in large scale industrial production lines, in order to manufacture products for numerous immediate applications in a wide range of fields, from packaging to agriculture, from furniture to automobiles, from building to aeronautics etc.

At The House of Extrusion it is possible to combine compounds obtained with graphene or other 2D materials that give the final products specific characteristics, allowing the improvement of properties as well as new applications. From a few hundred grams to several tons per hour, the polymers combined with graphene can be mixed with Bandera extrusion technology for real mass production.

Bandera Extrusion Academy and The House of Extrusion are open to collaboration with academia and industry in order to develop new products that could take advantage of the extrusion technology. With Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia of Genova, Italy, Bandera has already created compounds and 3D filaments of different polymers to be used for 3D printing applications.

At Grapchina Giovanni A. Della Rossa, innovation & IP manager, presented Grapholymer technology during the section “Graphene in High Performance Composite” on September 26, 2017.
