South Korea on the rise

As reported to ASSOCOMAPLAST (the Association of Italian rubber and plastics processing machinery manufacturers) by the Korean Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade during a recent meeting, the Korean government has implemented a program to develop the local plastics processing industry.
Not surprisingly, foreign trade in plastics and rubber processing machinery recorded significant progress in 2011 with respect to 2010: +52% in imports, especially as a result of growth in acquisitions of extruders, and +23% for exports, thanks to increased sales of injection-moulding machines. In 2011, South Korea ranked as the world's sixth exporter of machinery.
Japan continues to rank first among suppliers to Korea, and second, after China, as a destination market for South Korean exports.
In 2011 exports of Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery to South Korea were valued at 8.5 million euro, increasing by 17% over 2010.
