A tandem extrusion line for XPS panels to a Polish processor
The renowned manufacturer of extrusion systems based in San Vittore OIona (Milan), Union, is set to supply an expanded polystyrene (XPS) insulation panel extrusion line to the Polish processor Synthos Dwori.
The tandem extrusion line (in other words, consisting of a primary twin-screw extruder and a secondary single-screw extruder) will be supplied together with a series of ancillary equipment, including a scrap recycling and granulation line able to maintain the excellent MFI (Melt Flow Index) necessary to guarantee a final product complying with the UNI EN 13164 specification, and a line for the suction and treatment of dust generated by the panel milling and smoothing stages.
Developed over the years on the basis of extruders for the foam segment, Union XPS lines can also extrude insulation panels made using XPS containing high percentages of scrap.
This is a particularly important order for this Italian firm, as Synthos is one of Europe’s leading petrochemical groups in the production of styrene and styrene derivatives and also the leading producer of XPS panels in Poland and the Czech Republic.
