Sustainable footwear

Gucci, too, has opted for biopolymers as a responsible way of fulfilling the wishes of the modern consumer. Its new line of men's and women's footwear called Sustainable Soles is produced using plastic and rubber that conform to the UNI EN 13432 and ISO 17088 standards  on biodegradation. Designed by the Italian fashion house's creative director, Frida Giannini, for the  early Autumn 2012 collection, the line includes Marola Green flat pumps and California Green sneakers. The pumps are made entirely from biodegradable plastic and are marketed in several shiny colours. The sneakers have a bio-rubber sole, leather upper, bio-certified shoelaces and metal details. The Gucci logo on these products  is on recycled polyester labels.
